Final Fantasy 4 Free Enterprise Randomizer (ver 4.5.0 as of 2/21/2023)

Final Fantasy 4 Free Enterprise is a different kind of randomizer. This turns the world of FF2/4 into an open-world rpg/scavenger hunt type game. Right at the start you have the airship and can go anywhere you want and do whatever you want. The catch is you start with 2 random heroes from the game, and the boss fights and acquisition of key items are randomized. Where in the normal game you would fight the Mist Dragon in the Cave of Mist you may run into one of the 4 elemental fiends instead or even Bahamut! Where you would normally obtain the package at the start when Cecil and Kain leave Baron Castle you might end up with the Magma Key to open up the Underworld! Going to the website (linked below) you can see the latest version, and joining the Discord to see what all the latest updates are. Included are a couple other fun links to help your Free Enterprise experience like trackers.

Your goal is to obtain the crystal which can be found through the game, or obtained after accomplishing various objectives which range from finding various heroes, killing certain bosses, or doing key tasks. The crystal is what flips Zemus into Zeromus in vanilla so you can fight him. During your seed you can find or buy an item called the Pass, which when given to a woman in Toroia, takes you to the Moon right to fight Zeromus instead of going through the lunar dungeon, or just take the long path down to Zeromus, you can even set it up to finish the seed with the Giant of Bab-Il.

Y’s Chronicles 1 & 2 Mobile Review

Y’s 1 and 2 Chronicles are the modern remakes of the classic action RPG Y’s 1 and 2, originally released for the PC-8801, MSX, Famicom and Sega Master Systems during the 1980’s by Nihon Falcom. Chronicles 1 was released for mobile in April 2015, with 2 coming out February 2016.  for It became a cult hit when the enhanced remake was released for the TurboGrafx-CD in 1989. The mobile editions were produced by Dotemu, and are based on the Y’s 1 & 2 Chronicles Playstation Portable enhanced remakes. Y’s 1 and 2 begin the adventures of the red-headed Adol Christin, a man who lives for adventure and always finds himself discovering lost civilizations, fighting demons, having women chase after him, and battling wannabe Gods. Y’s is a popular series with the original games on various systems, and some not released in other countries translated (like the Super Famicom/SNES titles), and were later given enhanced remakes of the original games, as well as continuing the series on modern systems.

The mobile and PSP remakes include an option to play in Complete or Chronicles mode, which really only change the character portraits from an old JRPG style to a more modern anime style, only available when you start a game. Another new option is changing the music from the Chronicles, Complete to the original PC-8800 editions. You can play Y’s on easy, normal, hard, or nightmare modes. All of which change the amount of damage Adol can inflict and receive from enemies. Nightmare mode does exactly what it says on the tin. A time attack for the boss fights is an option after finishing the game too.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Arcade Review

0009

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was released to arcades in 1985 by Atari Games, and the first Atari System 1 game to include digitized speech. This game follows the movie faithfully when Indy makes it to the Thuggee Lairs. This was one my favorite arcade games as a kid, and one i used to always toss quarters into in hopes of getting farther. Finding this years ago in emulation when MAME became a thing made me very happy! One the big things about this game is that it’s not a quarter muncher you can toss extra coins into to get a little farther. Inserting 2 coins give you the option to start with 3 or 7 lives. Anyone who played this as a kid or even now will tell you 3 lives isn’t gonna be enough.

Starting the game you can select 3 difficulty levels between easy, medium, and hard. Each level consists of 3 levels: the mines where you rescue children from cages, the mine cart where you race to the end, whipping everything and anything and trying not to fall off the track, then the Temple of Doom itself. Here you recover one of the three Sankara Stones and escape. This runs through 3 times, adding more dangers and pitfalls. During the 4th run, you go through the first 2 stages, and the Temple is replaced by the rope bridge finale of the movie where you take on Mola Ram. Finishing the game takes you to a bonus stage where you collect golden statues and keeps going till you lose all your lives.

So how’s it play?

My Sad Time With FF8

ff8-logo

I’ve always loved the FF games starting with the first. My fav titles are 4, 6, 7, and 9. FF1 and Dragon Warrior 1 were my first rpgs! I even found some enjoyment in the 2 unreleased in the US titles 2 and 3. I’m planning to return to 2 via Dawn of Souls sometime, and 3…who knows. Have I finished a lot of them? Well no, I think last one was 6. I do have 10, 10-2, and 12 on PS2. Aside from the online 11 the only PS era FF I’m missing is 8, and i do have tactics through its a Greatest Hits re-release (all others black label). Now with the PS3 I can see what the love-hate relationship with the 13 trilogy is all about.

8 is the only one I’m missing from the PS era, along with a guide, and the guide for FF Anthology…which I’m not sure how I missed that one. 8…I never really got along with. I’m planning a post on my history with the FF titles, but with last week’s 8 Remastered and 7 Remake in a few months, I figure Id share why i never got into 8, and if i should revisit it once I own a new copy and/or PS3 PSN download.

Mental Health and stuff

Hi im Chris and I am a mental health advocate and have mental health issues myself. I have neurological issues from growing up, went to a private school. Have ADHD, anxiety and some depression, and I think i’m fighting with executive disorder as well. I have trouble getting moving to do things I have or want to do at time, like turn on a console for my video games, make important phone calls or texts, read or study, go outside, etc. Video games and gardening help balance me as my self-care. I’m wishing ive done more in the past to fix and check my brain out more in the past and struggling now to figure things out, even financially. Finding doing emulation on my phone is really chill and i can play anywhere. Alternative for me for now till I have time/can turn on my consoles, or even im out. And wishing I had, or could figure out the money to get help even with my UNH insurance. lol

That said May is mental health month. Earlier in the month was RPGLimitBreak convention for speedrunning rpgs, in which this year they were doing donations for NAMI, National Alliance for Mental Illness. I happily donated and if/when i can start streaming, i plan to set up my paypal or cashapp for donations. Then if/when i go affiliate I’ll set up subs for that purpose too, as well as donations to animal care.

Of Maps and Monsters 8 and 16 bit

One my favorite things of rpgs and adventure games bit era were the extra material. Maps, spell and item lists, monster and skill charts and more. Always fun to open up the box ready to dive into the adventure and skimming over the information. and this was before gamefaqs remember! sometimes we have to buy grid paper and draw our own maps and scribble notes on them! The artwork and information was always a treasure to look at and admiring the artwork.

So I went through a few things I had to take photos of, inspired by HungryGoriya.

So here’s some Ultima 4 for the nes, dragon warrior 1 and 4, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana and Ogre Battle. I dont have Final Fantasy 2 or 3, or Dragon Warrior 3 so they’re not included.

Ultima 4 was interesting as it came with tons of information, though the NES edition wasn’t as in-depth as the Sega Master System or early pc versions.

Hiya!

Welcome to my little corner of the web. Here’s Ill post photos of my game collection, convention photos, mental health stuff, comics and more.

Im just a guy from NJ who enjoys comics, video games, gardening and the like. Ive been gaming most my life starting with an Atari 2600. I dont have any of the modern systems but I have an Atari 2600, nes, snes, sega cdx, dreamcast, n64, ps2 and a ps3.

For comics Im more marvel than DC. Always enjoyed spider-man, x-men and such. Gotten into ms marvel and the current star wars run as of late. for DC green arrow and the green lantern books and some batman.

I enjoy the outdoors and gardening since I was a kid. Planting flowers and puttering around the yard relaxes me and love taking nature photos of what blooms. I do a veggie and herb garden yearly too.
